    No - but it's not too surprising, in view of the huge problems you have.
    I'd leave it for at least another couple of hours before giving up on it.

    First of all thanks for all your help and quick replies. I appreciate that.
    Just some questions.
    If indeed it doesn't go on (I will leave it till morning to be sure), will there be any problems after having to power off the laptop and not completing the installation?

    Are there any other possible solutions, everything I tried seems to have failed miserably. I just did a factory reset and spent many hours trying to install again all the necessary software for my work.
    Will the problem be only with these specific updates? I mean can I just disable them or the problem will be for any future updates, thus making it impossible to continue like that?
