error 800B0100 with KB 2978092 and KB 2973112 - failed install

Recently had completely fresh OS install done by the office IT guys, but these two updates keep failing. (A few recent updates have gone through okay.) It says cryptographic service components not registered when I run the windows update repair tool.

Tried SURT, and tried installing the .msu files to the the \Windows\checkSUR\packages directory, but still no luck. Now got a 8024200 error.

    here are my log files.

    Thank you!

    Here's the CheckSUR summary.
    Code:
    Seconds executed: 479
     Found 70 errors
     Fixed 70 errors
CSI Manifest All Zeros Total count: 60
Fixed: CSI Manifest All Zeros. Total count: 60
CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 10
Fixed: CBS MUM Corrupt. Total count: 10
Fixed: CBS Paired File. Total count: 10
... so it managed to fix everything it found.

The CBS log contained no data from the SFC scan - but did have errors from the above.

Please run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log

Please attempt to install the update again, and post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file when complete (especially if it fails!)

It didn't take too long to fail. It has been trying to install these 2 files every night on shut down (because the .msu files are still in the /package directory?, I'm assuming). Hopefully the windows log says something informative...
I included a screenshot of the multiple failed installs.

The error code here means that the system is still missing some of the download - or at least thinks it's missing.

See if downloading the offline installers and using those works...

Download Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2978092) from Official Microsoft Download Center

I can't see the KB number of the .NET update? - what is it?

Dude, I don't know why that worked now!!
I had tried the off line installers earlier and they didn't work at the time.
Anyway, they worked this time, well sort of.
I still had to run Windows Update again and "install" them again even though the stand alones had already installed.

Whatever. At this point it's fixed and I am Super Happy!!!

Thank you SOOOOO much for all your help Noel. You made my day!

Glad it worked in the end!
Dunno why the standalone didn't completely fix it.

    Good luck!
