windows does not update after new HDD installed error 0Xc8000247

    Laptop HP G72
I installed a new HDD, WD black series 750 GB, was WD black 500GB
W7 OEM came with the laptop.
placed an image on it with Acronis for C-D and E drive.
After this windows did not update.
Tried to make legitimate through the internet and phone. No result.
When I tried the phone however, windows did start to update. But because it was 02:00 at knight I was happy and shut down the laptop. Wanted to update next morning. Next morning.....no updates possible. Phone registration did not work to get it legitimate any more!!!!!

Installed W7 with the DVD I created when the laptop was new, same result.
Looked for the error code: 0Xc8000247.
Found out that one solution could be the missing intel RST driver (thanks to this forum).
Tried to install Intel RST and installed latest Java. Error because microsoft .NETFramework 4.5 is not installed.
Tried to install microsoft .NETFramework 4.5: error, not able to install.

I even tried this found in thread on the forum:
Windows Update not running. Error Code 0xc8000247 when running SURT

    ======================
    Open an Elevated Command Prompt
    Run the following commands

    NET STOP WUAUSERV
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
    NET START WUAUSERV

    wait 15 minutes, and reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.
    ===================================================
    NO LUCK
Now I do not know anymore.
I would appreciate any help on this.

    Thank you,
    Ed.

No need for any sort of reinstall...

Did the IRST drivers install properly, or give an error message? - what error message?
If they did install successfully, try this...

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

    NET STOP CRYPTSVC
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
    NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report and post the results.

Note that this may delete your Update History - but all updates will remain installed, and can be viewed in the Installed Updates listing.

IRST did not install. The message I got was that I need to install microsoft .netframework 4.5.
When I tried to install that I got an error, .NET framework4.5 client profile not installed because: HRESULT 0Xc8000247.

Now I did install again a factory installation from the installation disks I created when the laptop was new. I did not make any connection with the internet as I found out everytime I did microsoft did want to check for legitimacy. Also when I tried to run any FixIt tool from microsoft internet explorer went corrupt (unable to open any file or store any file downloaded from internet).
Tried to install microsoft .netframework 4.5 with same error 0Xc8000247.
I'll run the commands as mentioned. I will NOT make any contact with internet. Post the result here. After that, to make the report, I'll make contact with internet.

IRST drivers do not require any form of .NET

I suspect that you may have other problems - but try this...

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

    NET STOP CRYPTSVC
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
    NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report and post the results.

Just to add some more information about the history what happened. When I bought the new HDD to replace the old defect one, I installed w7 with succes on the new HDD. Had some problems that were solved with updating IRST.
Inorder to be able to undo changes in the system I installed RollBack.
Worked great, but then I encountered a problem that the disk was full. only 8GB left. Rollback did create a lot of images.
So I went to rollBack program and deleted some backups. After that I installed the first image being factory install. I did not have the battery in my laptop. When I was putting back the image, during installation, the electricity in my house got cut off. So I started again with installing the factory image from the D-drive. Since then I have this problem.

I did the instructions from above and below instructions.
    ======================================================
    Open an Elevated Command Prompt
    Run the following commands

    NET STOP WUAUSERV
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
    NET START WUAUSERV

    wait 15 minutes, and reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.
    =============================================================
but it still fails to update. error message: windows update service not active.
Also tried toinstall Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and 4.5.
Both did not install. I'm asked eighter to turn services off or on by 3.5. But no pointer to what services.

It looks like you also uninstalled the WAT update (KB971033) - why?

    Please post your event logs.

    Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...
    Save the file as Appevt.evtx
    Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.

I didn't uninstalled the WAT update (KB971033) by my hand. Even did not uninstall any update.
Do not know why that happened. As said, I did put back a factory image and followed the instructions.
    after
    NET STOP CRYPTSVC
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
    NET START CRYPTSVC
    and
    NET STOP WUAUSERV
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
    NET START WUAUSERV
Windows started to install something after shut down and start up.
After that I connected to the internet. Before no internet connection.

Can you tell me how to open the Event Viewer?

    Click on the Start button
in the Search box, type 'eventvwr.exe' (without the quotes) and hit the Enter key.
