    Window 7 forever

    Hiya, all

I am a satisfied Windows 7 Pro user on six machines (five laptops and one desktop) all of them home machines. I have no desire to ever experience Windows 8, 10, 27 or whatever. I want to stay on Windows 7. But things happen to machines, and sometimes they have to be replaced. Does anyone have any thoughts on how I might be able to stick to Win 7 through the coming years? MS has pulled their OEM licensing from sellers as of tomorrow, as I understand it. Can Win 7 be run without activation? Not legally, just functionally. There is no financial constraint, and I really want to keep this system. Any thoughts, constructive, unconstructive, positive, negative or antagonistic will be thankfully recieved.

P.S. On a previous solved thread, I tried to "rep" someone who helped and couldn't figure out how to do it.

Pulling their OEM licensing from sellers doesn't mean you won't be able to stick with Windows 7. Afterall the real end of support will not happen before 2020...Plenty of time!

Just check regularly incoming motherboard system specs but one can still install the now old XP on actual system, so...!!

That's encouraging. So if I bought, say, half a dozen off the shelf copies of Windows 7, I could install them in the future as long as the future technology, whatever it turns out to be, would support it, and MS would activate them without hassle? (You don't have to speak for MS, here.)

Each Windows 7 operating system has it own activation key.
If you buy 6 copies and put them on a shelf for some time they are still good to use if your so desire at a later date.

    Example:
If you would of bought Windows 7 when it first came out and tomorrow you decide to install it; that would work just fine.

Microsoft is happy you bought Windows 7 and doesn't really care when you install it or if you ever do install it.

The main problem will reside in drivers section that will not be supported anymore at one time or another.

Just look at what AMD does with Windows 8 (because deprecated mostly?) that does not support their AMD Graphics driver installer since few month...That will be the same for others manufacturers even if XP have been supported till now, that doesn't mean Windows 7 will receive the same..

I think some new technology will go pretty quick appearing in close future that Windows 7 cannot handles as for example it is a Two Touch screen way system and we're now at Ten multi-points touch screens.

Oy gavaldt. I had forgotten about drivers. It was a driver issue that forced me away from my beloved Win 2000. Thanks for bringing this up.
