Windows Update Multiple Fails - Code 8007054F

I've had issues for a while about certain updates failing when installing, usually with the error code 8007054F. I've basically been hiding the updates that have been failing but having come across this forum I thought I might see whether anyone here could help me out with my problem.

I've tried installing the SURT, running a SFC scan and then installing updates and I've still had the same issues. I also tried running tweaking.com's Windows repair program to see if that would help. I tried to install KB2973337, KB3003057 and KB2868725 one by one in the last day or so to create some log files to be analysed. I actually had to delete some of the archived logs in the CBS folder to create a reasonably sized zip file.

My impression is that if Windows needs to be rebooted to install an update, then that update will fail.

Here's a full list, as far as I am aware, of updates that always fail to install for me (apologies for all the text):

    IMPORTANT
    KB2962872
    KB2976627
    KB2977629
    KB2987107
    KB3003057
    KB2864202
    KB2868626
    KB2868725
    KB2871997
    KB2972280
    KB2973201
    KB2973351
    KB2982378
    KB2984972
    KB2992611
    KB3000061
    KB3002885
    KB3003743
    KB3011780
    KB2685811
    KB2685813
    KB2973337
    KB2985461

    OPTIONAL
    Internet Explorer 10
    Internet Explorer 11
    KB2670838
    KB2574819
    KB2592687

Appreciate any help you can give me and let me know if you need any further information.

You have what appears to be some problems with the Event collection services - and these seem to be blocking installs.
I'll have to do some research on this as I've never seen this error type before.

Thanks for looking into this. Have you managed to find any time to do some research on this problem?

Not enough - but let's have a closer look at the event logs, and see if there's anything there to help us...

    Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...
    Save the file as Appevt.evtx
    Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.

You have installed Advanced System Care - and it's very likely that this is the cause of your problems!
You should uninstall it, after attempting to use it to undo anything it's already done.
You also appear to have residuals from XP present (HiPerfCooker_v1in WMI) which maybe causing performance hits. (Not sure exactly how to deal with this!)

The AODDriver4.3 service failed to start - this appears to be a Radeon driver problem, and is probably bestdeal with by uninstalling the current drivers completely, and then reinstalling the latest WHC compliant set.

I did recently install advanced system care after uninstalling an old version of tune up utilities which I did think might be causing the issue. I have both of them uninstalled now.

I also did a full uninstall and reinstall of the relevant display drivers but I notice that error was still coming up in the event viewer so not sure what the issue is there.

After all of the above I followed the guidelines outlined for the correct installation of windows updates and it's still failing with the same error code. I'm unsure as to what to try now.

TuneUp Utilities is another one of my pet hates
Both have a bad reputation for removing registry entries that they don't understand - with potentially disastrous results.

let's have another look at a new set of Event logs, and also the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file and see what we can find.
