Win 7 Ultimate, clean install, get 0x8004FF91 trying to install MSE

This machine is a Gateway FX-Series laptop, which I bought used a couple of months ago. It came without a drive, so I bought a new 2TB drive to go along with it. I installed Win 7 Ultimate onto it and just a small handful of other programs so far -- a couple of browsers and utilities for my digital camera -- but I have not installed any anti-spyware or anti-malware onto it yet. internet-wise, so far I've used it only for a bit of Web activity (visiting a couple of forums that I'm a regular at, and Netflix, mostly).

I used Microsoft Security Essentials on my previous laptop (and my desktop) with good results, so I would prefer to continue using it. Unfortunately, it errors out on me, generating the above code, when I attempt to install it. Following your instructions, I came here, ran the diagnostic utility and it gave me this:

    Code:

The only thing that jumps out at me are the "File Mismatch" statements. If they're the problem, I have no idea what to do with them. As far as my competency level goes, back in the old DOS and (for me) OS/2 days, I considered myself to be an expert. These days, I just hang on for the ride. If shutting things down and restarting the machine don't fix things, I'm pretty much lost. So keep this in mind when/if you give me recommendations on how to precede with successfully installing MSE.

As always, thanks for any help you can provide!

Thank you cooltouch for following my suggestion and posting here.

I do see problems but I'm not knowledgeable enough to offer help at this time.

Just hang in there and a expert will be a long.
Sometimes it takes a little while because they are busy and in different time zones.

    I'm not understanding this.

Hopefully when a expert drops by you will get fixed and I get a little knowledge.

The ASRock 890GX is the motherboard for my desktop system. Since it appears that I can enter specs for only one system, I've elected to keep those for my desktop. This laptop is a Gateway FX series, model number MS2252, which is better known as an FX P-7805 for some reason. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.8GHz CPU, 8 Gigs of RAM, and is running 64-bit Win7 Ultimate, SP 1 installed.

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194

    (you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

... You do realise that your Product Key is a Not for Resale MSDN-type one?
If you purchased this other than as part of a subscription, then it's counterfeit and you should demand a refund.
