oh btw it is not happening in windows 8 on any of my 4 pcs- only windows 7
Forgot to add that there's no problem at all with that update on my machine. Could it perhaps be related to only 64 bit OS?
Several threads here on this one, after update sfc fails possible network problems and also affects win 8 if you have office 2013/365 installed
My machine is locking up freezing requiring rebooting and cant uninstall update
Wolfgang also has a thread going about problems he has noticed
Warning - KB3004394 corrupts system files
SFC found corrupt files after Windows update - never had any before
Yes I discovered after a LOT of stuffing around that KB3004394 is a bad apple even though it says installed successfully - thanks MS. Though the installs appeared to all go ok on my much older PC.
I guess I go back a system image or 2 and hold off until MS hopefully fix things.
What do you think just leave them sitting there and hold off on the download & install ??
Oh here is another article on KB3004394
Botched KB 3004394 triggers error messages, but no response from Microsoft | InfoWorld
And also it has done it on office 2013 on my windows 7 and windows 8
Bte i just learned microsoft pulled it from the update service
I uninstalled this KB from W7-32, W7-64, and W8.1-64.
It isn't re-offered for W7, but is still available for W8.1-64.
No Office version installed on W8.1-64, Office 2010 installed on W7.
My laoptop did its daily check at 06:30 GMT this morning - and I wasn't offered the update.
Forced a recheck... and it's still not offered.
The office desktop updated yesterday at 17:15 - and installed the update without any problems that I've noticed yet (but I haven't spent much time on it)
Is that a Win 7 or Win 8.x laptop ?
I just checked again, and it's still offered in Win 8.1
