Error 9C59 on IE 11 Update

My wife's laptop refuses to update to IE 11. What I know it might have been interrupted on the first attempt (probably battery empty), now it wants to do the update on every shutdown but fails. A manual update produces error 9C59.

Scandisk doesn't find any errors. I looked through the logs, but can't make too much of it (nowadays I mostly work with Linux systems). Attached you find the CBS logs and any logs I thought might be useful. Please recommend what I should try next, thanks in advance!

    The CheckSUR shows these problems...
    Code:
    Unavailable repair files:
     servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-ImageBasedSetup-IE-Package-Base-Downlevel~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~6.3.9600.16428.mum
     servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-ImageBasedSetup-IE-Package-Base-Downlevel~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~6.3.9600.16428.mum
     servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-ImageBasedSetup-IE-Package-Base-Downlevel~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~6.3.9600.16428.cat
     servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-ImageBasedSetup-IE-Package-Base-Downlevel~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~6.3.9600.16428.cat
SFC shows no problems, and there's nothing serious in the background data of the CBS log

I'll post a fix for the missing files soon.

    I've uploaded a file - m79aa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder m79aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folders inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Thank you very much. I did as instructed and it says it fixed the errors. Attached you find the requested logs. Should I try the IE 11 update again?

Yep - give it a go. If it fails, please post the new IE*.log files

Thank you very much - that did it! IE 11 is now running fine and Windows Update behaves normally. My wife is happy, so whenever I can help you with a Linux problem, just let me know

    You're welcome!
I can't see me moving to Linux anytime soon except as a learning exercise :)- but you never know!

    Good luck

    Hi,
I am and have had the same issues with updating IE9 to IE10 and now IE11.
I think I have followed your instructions to the original poster but I still can't upgrade.
Upon failure to upgrade I get the error code 9c59.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.
