Anyone willing to confirm that yes the test takes 8+ hours? And that an 8 hour stress test is safe and/or a good idea?

12 hours is not an unusual time - and any reasonably well-built machine should be able to run without any risk for that period of time. It's not a stress-test as such anyhow, simply a progressions of mathematical transforms that attempt to test all possible modes of failure.

Gotcha. I re-read your post and felt confident that the time table was common... So I started the test this morning before heading to work. I'll post my results at 4 when I get home.

Also, my co-worker suggested testing the ssd (boot drive) so I'm planning on running hddscan (freeware scanning software) after the RAM test. Assuming the RAM test passes.

Thanks again for all your help.

    8 passes. 15 hours. :-/ Pass.

BUT a smart report on the Corsair SSD shows "num 204, 'Bad Block Full Flag"... I'll post the report in a sec.

Anyone know what I can do? Besides buy a new ssd?

I should also mention, I'm STILL having issues applying an update... and may move the HD issue to a different thread.

I'm not convinced that HDD is the best thing to use to test SSDs -
You really should use the Corsair test utility for this... http://softwaredownloads.corsair.com....2.2.5_WIN.zip

Huh I'll have to check that. Maybe change time zones for the hell of it.

Ok I'll do that when I get home. Any ideas for the update that won't take? And if the second test still shows a bad block, what can I do? Repair? Buy new?
