Windows Update Woes (80073712)

I have tried, countless, times, to get my computer to update, but it absolutely refuses to, constantly spitting back error code 80073712. The SFC tool does nothing to help, because Windows Resource Protection can't perform the requested operation, and running the SURT does nothing either. My CBS logs are attached, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

CheckSUR found the following major problem.
Code:

(f) CSI Unable to Query Store Version 0x00000002
SFC has the same problem.

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

You have a major problem - the file I requested should have been in the region of 40MB before compression - the one you uploaded (which appears to have been the correct one, from the header) was only about 8KB.

Your only real option (assuming System Restore is not helping) is a repair install of Windows. https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R

I can try that, but I may run into an issue-I'm running on a laptop where the screen is broken, and I have an external monitor attached. If there's anything I need to do or see that would pop up during boot (before the external monitor would kick in), I can't do it. I'll give it a shot, though.

I've never tried it in such circumstances, but mostly the action is within the Windows environment, so you may get lucky.
