    KB2937610 and KB2972211 fail installing with Errors 80073712 and 80...


    Hi everybody,

    I try to help a friend with some Windows Update Installation Errors:

    KB2972211 fails with Error 80070490
    KB2937610 fails with Error 80073712

    The System Update Readiness Tool doesn't finish after hours.
    Windows Upgrade Installations also failed.
    Acronis True Image Home couldn't recover properly.
    Manuall instalation of the Updates also failed.
    Kaspersky Internet Security and CCleaner is installed.
    chkdsk with no errors.
    I realy tried a lot, but I don't know the solution.
    My friend don't want to instal windows fresh...
    Please help me.

    The Laptop is a Acer Aspire 7750G
    with
    Intel Core i5-2430M @ 2.4 GHz
    AMD Radeon HD 6850M with 1 GB VRAm
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    M4-CT128M4SSD2 (with Windows 7 Pro x64 on it)
    Samsung SSD 840 Pro Serie 256 (with Data on it)

    The CheckSUR log is huge - and incomplete - and shows that you have massive registry corruption. (or possibly a single error!)

    Your best option is a repair install.

    Overnight I tried the startup repair:
    booted from Windows CD, started the "startup repair" but it won't work. "Please disconnect every other hardware like printer, cameras etc." but it's only the Laptop, no other hardware is connected to it.
    Then I started an "in place upgrade installation" and "anytime upgrade" but it failed with "Windows failed upgrading" (no Error Code). Maybe my friend has to face the truth...

    Sorry, if I write with big letters, I didn't find the right button for the size on my smartphone. (Okay, in the editing Window it was written in huge blue letters) XD

    It does sound like a clean install is going to be required
    Make sure that you back up all data to external media before starting!
