    Any suggestions regarding how to resolve this update problem? The computer also 'freezes/crashes' from time to time...

    Try this - do a Clean Boot, and attempt to install SP1 using the standalone installer.

    Ah - sorry about that! you must have fallen off my watchlist!

    Since it's been so long, we'd better have a complete new set of files....

    Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

    If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

    Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

    Hi - thanks,

    in log cbs file right-click etc

    when trying to send compressed file to desktop I get the message "File not found or no read permission..."

    I do get the check sur if that is of any use?

    That log is part of what I needed - and it's clear.
    I still need the CBS.log and the latest CBSPersist file.
    You'll need to COPY the CBS.log file to the desktop, before compressing the copy for upload.

    For some reason it won't let us copy it to the desktop... comes up with that message...
