    Persistent 80073712 Win Update : Windows 7 X64 Ultimate

    Hi,

    Looking for help resolving 5 Windows Updates that never install, always fail with 80073712 but suspect the issue is more complicated after seeing the logs.

    1) Ran sfc /scannow in admin priv : no issues
    2) SURT ran successfully, logs attached. 17 catalog/mum corrupt issues plus a stack of missing manifests, packages

    Hoping Noel will be along with one of his famous packages (assuming the pub is closed .. :) )

    Thanks,

    Mike

    (Pubs don't open for another 15 mins yet

    CheckSUR found this...
    Code:
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 616
     Found 65 errors
      CSI Manifest All Zeros Total count: 31
      CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 17
      CBS Catalog Corrupt Total count: 17
    It's not as bad as it may seem - they all appear to be from a single update.

    I'll post a fix shortly - before I go to the pub :)

    I've uploaded a file - byaaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
    Please download and save it.
    Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
    Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder byaaa in the same place.
    Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

    Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

    And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

    Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

    Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

    Hi Noel,

    Very close .. ran it twice to check. A few packages still left but all the updates that failed last time now install. Thank you so very much indeed.

    Please accept a virtual pint as a small token :

    Code:
             _.._..,_,_
            (          )
             ]~,"-.-~~[
           .=])' (;  ([
           | ]:: '    [
           '=]): .)  ([
             |:: '    |
              ~~----~~
