error 8007010B while attempting to update

    Hello all

Like most of the people here, I can't update anymore. I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64. The error message I get is 8007010B. Attached are the log-files of the CBS-folder right after running SURT and SFC.

SFC doesn't work quite well. This is what I get at the prompt:
    Microsoft Windows [versie 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. Alle rechten voorbehouden.

    C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Systeemcontrole wordt gestart. Dit proces kan enkele minuten duren.

    Verificatiefase van systeemscan wordt gestart.
    Verificatie is 9% voltooid.

De aangevraagde bewerking kan niet worden uitgevoerd.

    C:\Windows\system32>

To be complete (I also read some other threats on this forum), I ran a Checkdisk and this is the result. I understand not everybody reads Dutch, so bottomline is I have 4kb at bad sectors. So I guess just one cluster...

Here are four of five cab-files from the folder (if you'll need them). the fifth one is too big and need to be splitted.

You should back up your data to external media - there are early signs that your hard drive may be failing.

CheckSUR found and fixed 3 problems.
From the looks of the other data, you have a corrupt download.

This could be due to corruption in the SoftwareDistribution folder - the problem with that the conventional cure can lead to problems later on, if not handled properly, and you will lose your Update history (but the updates will still be installed, and viewable in the Installed Updates listing).

    Open an Elevated Command Prompt
    Run the following commands

    NET STOP WUAUSERV
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
    NET START WUAUSERV

    reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.

Install only the oldest update found - and reboot once installed
then go back to Windows updates and install the others.

Thank you very much, Noel. That would be already the third hard drive that's failing on this system, so I guess I have another hardware problem on my system. But that's for another topic...

I will follow your advice tomorrow, when I'm home and come back to you.

    Cheers.

    Hello Noel

I did what you asked. When I looked for updates again after those 10 minutes, it said that I needed to install an update for Windows update first. When I tried, the windows just disappeared. So I went back to Configscreen --> Windowsupdate and I needed to search again. I got the 8024001B-error, so I left the computer for her needed private time

When I came back after about half an hour, I retried. Same error: Windows update needs an update. But I still can't (window disapearing). I turn off with the option "install updates and turn off", but no install done. I turned on again and now I have or "windowsupdate needs an update" or "8007010B".

The log of windowsupdate is again attached, the output of sfc hasn't changed (stops at 9 %) and I'm now running SURT again. Will upload the folder when done.
