I think it'll be beneficial to get a topic going like this every month so we can all keep a look out for eachother.

We do. It's never a formal topic but somebody usually asks the question on Patch Tuesday and everyone else contributes their own experiences. I find it very useful, along with Susan Bradley's Patch Watch at Windows Secrets, Susan being a Microsoft MVP with particular interest in updates. She posts here occasionally as well as making detailed recommendations in her Patch Watch column. Between both sites, there's a lot of useful information and advice.

To benefit from the Patch Watch column you need to register and pay the princely sum of $12 per annum. Well worth it my view, but I would stress that I am not seeking to divert people away from this site, far from it. The two sites combined give an excellent coverage of what has become a very stressful monthly exercise and I wouldn't be without either of them!

Thanks for the link and heads up.

So far, the problem updates haven't stressed me out any. By the time I actually download and update, any problem updates have been reported, pulled, and, often, are already fixed. Also, part of my weekly routine is to run full AV and Anti-malware scans and image my C: drives (I only keep the last eight weeks worth so they don't get out of hand) every Friday late afternoon or early evening so, since I don't download and update until Saturday, if something should go horribly wrong, I can just restore back to Friday's image.
