KB3033929 Fails/Boot Loops with Error 80004005
I reported this in the post regarding the March 10 patchfest, but thought it should get its own thread until resolved. The patch will not apply on my system and requires several lengthy reboots to unwind itself and finally fails to patch. During the update process I get a "Reverting Changes" message and "Preparing to retry", but ultimately, the patch fails. On Microsoft's Technet site, some have reported that this is due to using a custom bootloader on a multi-boot machine, which is what I have, though others seem to be having problems even on single OS systems. Some have worked around the problem by disabling their bootloader (e.g., grub2), booting into Win7, applying the patch successfully, then re-enabling their bootloader for multi-boot. This is a bit more than I'm willing to do at the moment, so hoping Microsoft will fix this patch so it will apply on dual/multi-boot machines.
