    Hi NoelDP

I have not given up on having my PC totally fixed but, as you last suggested to have a System Repair Disc created, try as I may, I have not been successful. I have been getting the error message "System repair disc could not be created. The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057)". I have followed the link you suggested and I have done other searches and suggestions but I am getting the same error message. I tried using a CD, I tried using a DVD, but nothing works.

I have seen a post where someone mentioned dismounting some encryption software, but I cannot find any such thing.

I really need to continue with the cleaning up of my PC as per your instructions but cannot move on if I am unable to carry out this step. Any suggestion, please?

    Hi Noel

I finally got over the problem, found the drive etc. I have now reach the point where I need to substitute the drive that worked in the XCOPY . . . command, but each time I tried I get a message saying that the file could not be created.

The file was extracted to C: therefore I have using the following command at the prompt:
    XCOPY C:\shlab C:\windows\winsxs /y/i/s/v/h
    Can you identify anything wrong?

It should noted that when I typed the DIR C:\shlab at the earlier prompt, a script was run.

Should I go ahead now and run the SFC /SCANNOW command again?

    Awaiting your reply. Thanks.
