    Windows 7 Build 7601 issue

Hello I purchased a second hand Asus all in one desktop computer at Christmas. It has worked fine for the past 2 months and now I have the Windows 7, Build 7601, This copy of windows is genuine error coming up and black desktop. I have run the report as requested and am guessing that the seller (who works at one of the computer suppliers in the area) has loaded a trial copy or something, which is frustrating . Can someone please advise

To confirm that the problem is what I think it is, please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt window and post the results.

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S
    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

That's fine - but unfortunately, it shows as being normal, so we'll have to try and find your error the hard way...

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
    At the Command prompt, type
    SFC /SCANNOW
    and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

Upload the CBS.log file (compressed, please!) to your reply - also post a new MGADiag report.

The SFC scan worked - unfortunately it found nothing to fix
Having said that, the original error is now gone - so with luck, the following procedure should work...

Please first try recreating Licensing Store.

    Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

    net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

    CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
    net start sppsvc
    slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report.

(Note: the Line 'CD %win......\SoftwareProtectionPlatform' is all on one line - it may be broken in the Forum listing)

The Windows Activation dialog box appeared and said:

The Windows 7 Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation

Buy a new product key online

    Type a different product key

    Contact ASUS for help

I selected Type a different product key and reentered the product key from the sticker on the back of the computer. The 'Non genuine' message has now disappeared from my screen so that seems to have fixed it.
