Trouble with Windows 7 Security Updates - error code 800B0100

    Hello to all:

For the last month or so, Windows Update has been unable to install certain Security Updates. The most recent is 'Security Update for Windows 7 (KB3023562)'.

The error code listed is: Code 800B0100.

My system is a Fujitsu Lifebook T901 running Windows 7 Professional SP1 32bit.

I have followed the directions for posting issues with Windows Update according to the 'Windows Update Posting Instructions'. I have done all of the steps and have attached the CBS.zip file.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    CB

    I've uploaded a file - cbdaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder cbdaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

That CheckSUR report is the same one as posted the other day?

Did you run the scan again?

    NoelDP:

I did, but not sure if I did it correctly.

I did put the contents of the packages and manifests folders onto my computer as per your instructions.

I was unsure how to run the checkSUR scan, but then I figured it was what I did before. Let me check to make sure I did that correctly...
    1. I opened an elevated prompt
    2. then ran - sfc /scannow
    3. then went to C:/windows/logs and copied the CheckSUR.log file and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

I assumed that these files were new files created with the newly ran scan. It seems now that they are not new files but instead the ones that were created previously.

I have since done the process again, and the CheckSUR.log file and the CheckSUR.persist.log file still are not updated. Apparently, I am doing this wrong.

Sorry about my ignorance, but please instruct me.

    Thanks, Clint

CheckSUR is the tool (large file KB947821) that you downloaded - you need to run that again, rather than SFC, at this point.

    CheckSUR is happy now...
    Code:
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 1338
     Found 7 errors
     Fixed 7 errors
CSI Manifest All Zeros Total count: 2
Fixed: CSI Manifest All Zeros. Total count: 2
CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 5
Fixed: CBS MUM Corrupt. Total count: 5
Fixed: CBS Paired File. Total count: 5
With any luck, if you do a new Check for Updates, and attempt to install only the oldest update found, it should work - then install the rest.
If not, then post back with the error code, and the KB number of the update you attempted to install.

    NoelDP,

Windows Update failed in the install of KB3023562 - Error code: 8024200D. This is one of the same updates that was problematic before.

    Any ideas?

Thanks so much for your efforts,
    CB
