    That's the one
The system seems to have generated 100MB of data in less than an hour - but there's no significant errors, and no SFC results.

Still not back quite far enough... try this one...

    No problem.

That one doesn't have any SFC data either

Please run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log file only afterwards.

    Lastly
When the computer starts it says cannot load nfaro.dll
Any ideas what that is and how to get rid of it?

If you use MSCONFIG you will at least be able to stop the warning appearing by unchecking its entry in the Startup listing.

There's no errors in SFC, either.

This is obviously one of those 'knotty' problems that occasionally haunt me
The only known fix at this point is a repair install - or a clean one

Having said that - this machine may have a later chipset than I realised, so may need the newer Intel drivers...
    Try this set... http://global-download.gateway.com/G...TEWAY&SC=PA_6G

Took nfaro out of msconfig startup this morning (How smart of me!)
Will update the intel driver per your suggestion.
Problem with repair install is that i do not have a win7 disk
I only have a win7 upgrade disk and it does not have SP1
I guess it is off to the repair shop.
