Windows 7 can not update: Error code 800B0100

    Hello Everyone,

Everytime I shutdown my pc, it downloads and installs about 50 updates.
Everytime I boot my pc, it uninstalls these updates and reboots.
This is going on for the past few months, and now I finally got some time to try to fix it.

So, the error code I got from windows update is 800B0100.
I googled the error code, ran the system update readiness tool about 4 or 5 times, which didn't get me any results. I also ran the SFC Scan a couple of times without any results.

I also ran a WindowsUpdateDiagnostic, which gave the the following results:
Windows 7 can not update: Error code 800B0100-knipsel.png
For everyone who doesn't understand dutch:
The two errors are in english:
    Windows Update-error 0x80070057(2015-03-24-T-09_16_31)
    Cryptographicserviceprovider components not registered.

I attached the log file of the SFC scan. I tried to upload the whole CBS map like the tutorial says,
but that was an upload of 180 mb (after zipping), so I just got you the log file. If you need anything else, please let me know!

I hope anyone can help me.

    Thank you in advance.

    Try running system file checker,

type CMD in the start menu search, right click the result and run as administrator

Type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes.

Follow the instructions until it has finished.

    Restart.

Try windows update manually, do not install all the updates at once, try doing a few at a time, wait until you have all the recommended updates before starting any optional ones.

    Thanks for your reply,

I ran the system file checker already like 4 to 5 times. I even uploaded the log from the scan in my topic post...

I just tried updating manually, but that is very time consuming, as after every update my PC has to reboot, find out that the updates are not "configured correctly", uninstall the just installed updates, reboot, enz.

I just got the update counter down to 38, but i discovered there are definitely more than three corrupt updates! Tomorrow I will try to install some more updates

Your CBS.log file shows the following problems...
    Code:
Line 5474: 2015-03-24 20:42:25, Info CSI 000002d2 [SR] Beginning Verify and Repair transaction

Line 5480: 2015-03-24 20:42:26, Info CSI 000002d6 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:30{15}]"msmpeg2vdec.dll" of Microsoft-Windows-MSMPEG2VDEC, Version = 7.1.7601.18519, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch
... however, it doesn't contain the 'summary' at the end of the SFC scan.

Hopefully this shouldn't pose a problem, so I'll post a fix protocol tomorrow.

The biggest problem is that you haven't included the CheckSUR scan - which may reveal a lot more problems.

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

    https://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/234159-windows-genuine-activation-issue-posting-instructions.html

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Ooops! - sorry - I posted the wrong instructions!

    run these instead...

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply.

I already ran that tool a couple of times, but I just ran it again just to be sure (I'm glad I saved that file in the first place)

I zipped the CheckSUR.log and the checksur.persist.log files, If you need any other files please let me know.

I'll post a fix protocol once I've caught up with the backlog!

    I've uploaded a file - tt1aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder tt1aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.
