    Updates failing error 800B0100

    Hello,

I've been trying to fix the error, but need some help.

I tried following Microsoft's instruction on replacing the corrupt files, etc. but having a tough time. I have another computer that I can copy the files from, but I'm not even sure where and what files.

I ran the system update readiness tool, and included the log file.

    Thank you!

    Thank you for the reply.

I checked those links, and didn't help much. I followed the instructions here, but I wasn't able to fix the problem. I'm not sure if I did everything correct though. http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947821

I also found another Microsoft page that talked about getting the cat and mum files from another coputer, but I wasn't sure what to do...

The CheckSUR log is incomplete, which implies that it crashed due to file corruption.

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

Sorry for the delay - life has been a little hectic recently!

I can't see any obvious corruption in there - perhaps the problem was a one-off, or the scan was cancelled?

Please run the CheckSUR tool again, and make sure you leave it to run to completion (it can take 2-3 hours).

    post the new CheckSUR.log file.
