Windows OEM Activation Failed Error 0xC004E003

My harddrive recently failed on my laptop which is a Dell, I've purchased a new harddrive and installed windows, unfortunately the sticker containing the key has faded to the point where it's unreadable, however I did manage to get a copy of the key. On trying to activate the key it says it's failed and gives the error code mentioned in the title. The SLUI 4 does not bring up a phone prompt and I've tried the stop service and rename tokens to .bar to no avail.

    This is my MGADiag report

Have you tried just going to the Start Orb and typing in just (SLUI) and tick on (slui.exe)

Then tick on (Learn more online benefits of genuine Windows) then go down the page and you will see (Validate Now)

    From your log:

License Status: Initial grace period Time remaining: 42960 minute(s) (29 day(s))

If I go on slui I get the window saying your product key is invalid for activation, buy a new product key, try a different product key or contact microsoft, clicking try a different product key and entering it again gives me the error in the thread title.

So I'm sure of what you mean.
You tried exactly as I posted and it didn't work.
    Is that correct?

Where did you get the key you are trying to get to work??

    Because your system is a
Windows License Type: OEM SLP key you will need the key that came with that computer or you will have to buy a proper COA key.

Some time with a magnifying glass and a flash light at a angle you can see the numbers and letters on the faded sticker.

Unfortunately the letters on the sticker have come off like a fake tattoo and are not distinguishable under any light. Im sure the key I have is correct.

If you can't see the key how do you know it is correct?
    Their zero error allowed.
It must be the key from that computer or one you bought Retail or OEM Bilders.

I will ask one more time; where did you get the key you are trying to use??

Hirens probably gave you the Dell factory install number not the Microsoft COA key.

Let me see if I can explain this.

When you buy a store bought computer like a Dell with Windows 7 installed there are two numbers.
SLP which is used by Dell and the OEM which is use to activate Windows 7.
This done this way so when the computer is first booted it activates all by itself using OEM and SLP keys in combination.

Key finders find the Dell SLP key but do not find the OEM Microsoft key that you need now to activate Windows 7.

Your log shows that your install of Windows 7 is this.

    Windows License Type: OEM SLP
