sfc is unable to fix system corrupt files

    Hi!

I am running windows 7 64-bit on a core 2 duo processor desktop PC. The problem is that my windows update has started creating problems for me with duplicate error messages that ranges from error code 8020053 to 8020002E to 80200071, every time there is a new message.

My main concern was actually to download updates smoothly, specially service pack 1 after a clean installation, which I did just a week ago. But my windows was reluctant to get these updates easily and every time pops up a new error code as I mentioned above.

Well, finally I sorted out the problem by downloading and installing the service pack alternatively via online link from Microsoft and after that I run windows update diagnostic tool which also showed that it has fixed my windows update problems as well.

After that, I actually didn't tried updating windows this time but instead since my windows was becoming heavy at times and opens applications not as smoothly as windows do in the start, so I went into the command prompt as admin and first ran this command; sfc /scannow=C:\windows and windows told me this: "Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation" so I went for normal sfc /scannow in which it checked the integrity of files 100% and returns with this message:

"Windows resource protection have found corrupt files but is unable to fix some of them"

Now I have to refer to cbs.logs but I really could not make out of it since I don't know what the technical language means written in it? So, I am attaching the cbs log here and would be very thankful if you can provide me a solution by using which I can resolve the corrupt files and make my windows clear of any errors. Help will be very appreciate if suggested without the advise of re-installation because I have did that a week ago for the same purpose. Thank you!

The easiest way to fix corrupt files is with a repair install. You will need an actual install DVD and not the image given to you when you buy a computer with windows installed.

Kindly, could you define me any other way except a repair installation which would fix this issue? Like I mentioned in the post, I have already did a clean installation a week ago for this very same purpose but again the files have gone corrupt. Also, whole of my data I have to re-install again and create my custom settings which takes a lot of time and unfortunately I am leading a very busy life, so is there is any quick solution you can suggest me Richard?

    Thank you for your help!

    Kind Regards:

A repair install is not the same as the install that you did. A repair install keeps your settings, documents and software.
If you just did a clean install to correct the problem and again you have problems, it is most likely a hardware problem
We have several members who are true experts in the log report, they will most likely be of more help. In the mean time, test your hard drive for corruption.

The problem does not seem to be too serious. There is something wrong with your Notepad. Check whether you can launch the notepad either from Accessories or from here: C:\Windows\System32\Notepad.exe

    Dear Whs!

My notepad is working absolutely fine and is opening both from the command you have pasted as well as from start menu - accessories too.

    I've uploaded a file - dakaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
    Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
    Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
    At the prompt type
    DIR C:\dakaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
    DIR D:\dakaa
    or
    DIR E:\dakaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

    XCOPY <drive>:\dakaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

    (e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type
    EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

    Daar Noel!

Thank you for your kind guidence and patience with me. I have actually found the dakaa folder going through my inbox at hotmail, downloaded it, and extracted it as per your advice above. Here is the command I used in system repair environment on a reboot:

    (xcopy D:\dakaa D:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h)

I received the notice that the file was copied successfully. I exited and rebooted my system in normal mood and logged in as Administrator - opened the command prompt and typed sfc /scannow. The result was the same that windows resource protection found corrupt files but could not be able to fix some of them.

Kindly, here is the second CBS log attached after this operation. Please review it and let me know what to do now? Thank you!

    Kind Regards:
