Hey all, I am not sure whether I should post this here or on update forum. But here it goes:
I ran "get-hotfix -id KB3035583,KB2952664,KB2976978,KB3021917,KB3044374,KB2990214" from powershell as told in 1st post and it only found 3 updates. I already had 1 hidden so that makes 4. Add KB3022345 to the list as well (not listed in the 1st post). I have 5 hidden updates, a manual search doesn't show anymore updates. So what happened to the missing ones?
To wrap it up:
KB 2990214 - was already hidden
-----------
KB 3022345 - not in list, uninstalled and hidden
-----------
KB 2952664
KB 3021917 - These were found with above command, uninstalled and hidden
KB 3035583
Hidden Updates are not installed right? They're just hidden from view when you check for updates that you want to install. So to actually install them you unhide them and select them for download.
The instructions in the first post are for finding and removing installed updates - not hidden updates that are not installed.
Hey Callender, thanks for the reply.
I don't know if you can hide an update that is installed :)
I uninstalled the ones I found in Installed Updates page, then did a manual search, as WU found and offered them again, I hid them.
So I am missing 2 updates, which are neither hidden, nor installed. Also not offered with a manual search.
2 of the updates mentioned in the first post is for Windows 8 and 8.1 which might explain it
I'll update the first post and make that more clear, and also add 3022345.
Hey guys, isn't it fine to just uninstall from Control Panel or are there some updates that won't work that way?
I uninstalled them from Installed Updates screen of WU without any issues.
Hello people, I seem to have an issue I can't solve for myself.
KB2952664, I have removed it through Installed Updates and after re-boot it is back.
I removed it through elevated cmd and was back after re-boot.
I am also almost certain I hide this KB a few weeks ago.
No, Sys restore for me is turned off.
Yes, I have Images to turn too, but trying to avoid.
Please help
Wayne
What do you mean it`s back ?
Once you uninstall it, run windows update again, then hide it, it should never come back again.
