Windows 10 will be a free upgrade available for the first year. Nobody knows if you'll have to pay for future upgrades / updates as Windows 10 is improved.

Microsoft to stop producing Windows versions

Is Win 10 going to be a free update for everyone? Will it become available as an update to Win 7? I've avoided Vista and Win 8, but Win 10 may be a decent upgrade if your hardware can handle it. I only upgraded to Win 7 when XP became unsupported. Although, I think Win 7 is superior to XP. The only downside was that some applications can't run on Win 7 and XP mode is really a degraded version of XP. I'm not eager to upgrade to Win 10, because I'm very comfortable with Win 7 now. I don't like to learn a new OS, because it's annoying to have to "research" how to do things. Since Win 10 is advertised as the final version of windows, it might be worth the pain to just jump in and do the upgrade. If it turns out to be a quality upgrade from Win 7, I won't regret the hassle of learning the new OS.
Also, we don't know how MS is going to handle the licencing of W10. I own a full retail version of 7 and some people have mentioned if you take the free update you may have to forfeit your 7 licence and that means there will be no way back if you don't like it. I would have to make sure it's a very worthy upgrade for me to give my licence up.

Of course, this is all just speculation right now as MS has kept very quiet about licencing.

I don't understand the point as to why someone would want to remove them.
Paranoia, perhaps. I'd like to know why MS is rolling them out now piecemeal. Why not offer the upgrade package when a user wants it? My guess is they are trolling for install information to see what impact there will be when a W7 user actually tries to upgrade to W10. It won't be me.

I noticed an odd update 5/12/2015, I will possible restore from backup image & hide it. KB976932 popped up with a 9mb file. I don't if the way I installed some of the updates or Microsoft trying to sneak something on windows 7.

    I thought KB976932 was Service Pack 1 for W7?

I just got rid of 2 of the updates myself, and after I installed this months updates, rebooted, they appeared in the "important" list again, just hid them this time. I have not had that update KB3022345 myself.

You have to read the More Information note on the right side of the page before you install any new updates besides MSE definition updates, if you don`t need the update, don`t install it.
