    Which ones did he install Greg? Just the GWX update?
    I had major HDD thrashing for days with one of the telemetry updates which managed to sneak by me. It stopped after I uninstalled it.
    I've never installed the Get Windows 10 crap though.

    THIS is a thread about *How to Remove Windows 10 Upgrade Updates in Windows 7 and 8*. Therefore I thought that the ones I inquired about were about Windows 10 as these appeared in YOUR post. Apparently the ones (5) I mentioned in my previous post do NOT belong in this thread as I googled them, unless I'm mistaken. Yeah, Japan won. :)

    Here's my list of files - only detected in WINSXS. I'm avoiding advanced disk cleanup for the time being.

    A few more that could probably be added to the "do not install" list:


    KB2977759 Compatibility update for Windows 7 RTM - performs diagnostics on the Windows systems that participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program in order to determine whether compatibility issues may be encountered when the latest Windows operating system is installed.

    KB3050265 Windows Update Client for Windows 7: June 2015 - fixes issues with Windows Update. Also, "General improvements are made to support upgrades to a later version of Windows"

    KB3050267 Windows Update Client for Windows 8.1: June 2015 - fixes issues with Windows Update. Also, "General improvements are made to support upgrades to a later version of Windows"

    KB3068708 Update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry - introduces the Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking service to in-market devices. By applying this service, you can add benefits from the latest version of Windows

    8708 and 0265 are on the list,

    0267 is for W 8.1

    7759 is up to the user, and I think non existent because the description says Windows 7 RTM

    I have tried to stop this damn thing coming back but so far it keeps findig a way to come back. I searched for the file gwx.exe but it would not let me delete without permission from TrustedInstaller, and running as admin would not let me delete it either. But for some reason I was permited to rename the GWX folder in System32 to GWXz. So I did this and have restarted my PC, and so far it has not come back. Lets see what happens.

    KB2952664 is hard to uninstall/hide/blocked. It come back every restart.

    Are they some new updates to add to the list since 7/14/2015? The update KB3065987 should or should that not be installed if you are not upgrading to windows 10 it was listed in the optional. I don't want to inadvertently upgrade my windows 7 retail partition to windows 10. I am already for windows 10 rtm since I upgrade my Windows 7 oem partition to windows 10 preview. I want to keep triple booting for awhile.
