How to remove Windows 10 upgrade updates in Windows 7 and 8

I'm guessing that could have something to do with one or more important/recommended/optional W7 updates that have been installed since the beginning of 2015?

Maybe there's more Windows 10 related stuff in some of those updates than we already know about?

I still seem to be immune (according to GWX Control Panel) because I did a clean install of Windows 7 just recently and I didn't install anything other than security updates dated from the start of 2015. Actually, I did do the time zone updates and maybe one or two others after checking them all out carefully... no W10 stuff, no telemetry, no Windows Update Client updates and no MS malicious software removal tools. All hidden (for now).

If W10 still manages to 'sneak' it's way onto this PC (and my 9 year old HP laptop which also has a clean install of W7) then I think it will be time for a W7/Linux Mint dual boot - with W7 at SP1 level only and no internet access whatsoever. I've been thinking about that more and more lately.

Just for the fun of it, I put "gwx" into my search program, Locate32, and restricted the search to my C:\ drive. Lo and behold, something's there from March 2015. Any idea what this is and if it's safe to remove?

Presumably the US EULA will survive scrutiny by US judges.

I've always assumed (after skimming the occasional EULA) that they basically absolve the company of all blame for anything that happens, including stuff they've deliberately done.

If it does happen and anyone complains they will just claim it was an accident (like they did recently with some update).

Since EOL for Win 7 is in 2020, I don't think any "Forced Win 10" would be before that date. There are a lot of people still using XP. At the beginning of this year it was 17% or 250 million folks. I just don't see how MS can force Win 10 on us and expect acceptance.

In the U.S., gross negligence, fraud and other illegal activity, etc. cannot be excused by disclaimers.

I think the one I posted Lady was a crawler this was on a new install of 7 pro :/
