Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit Updates Failing

    Hello all,

Having some issues with my Win 7 updating. I am getting error Code 8024200D from the Windows Update manager. Thus far, I have followed Microsoft's troubleshooting steps utilizing the IfixIt client, System Readiness Tool (This just wants to install the same Hotfix over and over), Checksum and the Automatic Troubleshooter. The Automatic troubleshooter indicates there are 2 errors it can't fix. With that said, none of the other "Microsoft Approved Scanners or Suggestions" find anything.

    Thoughts?

    Specs: i7-5820k, Asus X99 Deluxe, Gskill Ripjaws 4 PC2400, SLI GTX 970 FTW+, Win 7 Pro 64bit

    Thanks

    Chris

Edit, it seems some updates will install, but some updates with net framework and updates for win 7 fail.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

    Noel,

My apologies for that. I went ahead and broke my post out so you know what I have done and the results.

    1. SURT goes through the system quite quickly. It says it is installating (Installing Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) (update 1 of 1)) and then wants to restart. Upon restarting and testing again, it tries to install the same Hotfix again. Rinse and Repeat. I never takes more than 10 minutes for SURT to run.

    2. SFC / scannow - Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations

    3. Error Code 8024200D from the Windows Update manager

    4. I have loaded up several files. Hopefully this works. There is one other cbs persist that is 21 meg compressed. Let me know if we need that and I will try to get it done.

Remove the CBSPersist files until the compressed file is under 8MB

I removed all five persist files to get it under 8. I have attached in the previous response 4 of the 5 persist files that I could get small enough. The 5th persist I can't get smaller than 21

The most recent CheckSUR is clear of errors.

However, an earlier run shows the following problems...
    Code:
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 714
     Found 318 errors
     Fixed 318 errors
CSI Manifest All Zeros Total count: 150
Fixed: CSI Manifest All Zeros. Total count: 150
CSI Catalog Corrupt Total count: 24
Fixed: CSI Catalog Corrupt. Total count: 24
CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 37
Fixed: CBS MUM Corrupt. Total count: 37
CBS Catalog Corrupt Total count: 1
Fixed: CBS Catalog Corrupt. Total count: 1
Fixed: CBS Paired File. Total count: 38
CSI Catalog Thumbprint Invalid Total count: 106
Fixed: CSI Catalog Thumbprint Invalid. Total count: 106
The recent SFC scan is also clean.

with any luck, this means that installing the problem updates using the standalone updater will work without a problem.

I will work on this Noel. Having some issues actually getting the updates to download, but I will dive deeper into this a bit later this evening.

    Thanks
