    Update windows

UPDATE TO POST...Microsoft is working on a correction to this issue and those that are experiencing problems with this update will receive that correction when it is available.

I am trying to update an important update and it fails every time. The update is "cumulative security update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB3038314)". Each time I retry the error I get is "WindowsUpdate_80092004" "WindowsUpdate_dt000".

I chatted with Microsoft and they wanted to sell me a support plan which I can not afford. Does anyone out there know what to do to get this to update?

There has been a number of recent problems with updates. I think that you may have already received this update, check your history. If already received right click on update and hide

I have received the update but it fails each and every time I try to update it and I do not know why. Does anyone know how to get this update to as "successful" instead of "failed"?

I wouldn't worry too much about it - many people are having problems with this update, or the effects of having it installed.
MS may be re-releasing an improved version soon (I hope!)

Let's just check a few things, though...

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

FYI - After several attempts with Microsoft this issue was escalated to level 2 and I was informed that this update is causing problems for many users. Microsoft is working on it and those individual's that are having difficulties updating will receive a correction when one is available.
