What I don't see is a mention how and what was used to do the re-install. Nearly all the computers, Desktop and Notebook, I've restored used preactivated setups when doing a Factory Restore from the partition on the HDD or a program to access that restore [not to be confused with System Restore].

Clean install with Windows 7 DVD downloaded online. I didn't get any DVD with neither OEM sticker to have Win Code, so I used some tool to extract that number from system. Called shop where this was bought, they ask around 90 USD for new installation...

EDIT: I have private Asus laptop, and once a year a install clean Win 7 using DVD, and put my OEM code for activation, and it always works flawlessly. This is my work laptop..

Without a COA/Certificate Of Authenticity label containing the Product Key a person could think there's problems/conflicts between the Product Key and the version of the Win7 download. A call to Microsoft using the number usually given onscreen when Windows won't activate has always worked for me.
