May 2015 update for stream.sys driver-based applications in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

This update helps Microsoft improve the experiences when users run stream.sys driver-based applications in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, such as the performance and the quality improvements.

    Thanks for the link.

From my understand the driver specifies the interface class GUID to register adapters in the PIO Mode or DMA Mode and put them in their proper group/range of peripherals, performs routine stream request block.
Looks stream.sys belongs to DVD decoder and USB Camera group and has something to do with Microsoft Direct Show.

I found a few place yet nothing informative - then I found a place that explains the application where you use the test for W.E.I. Windows Experience Index that would benefit from this update.

    Welcome to Sevenforums,

It would be kind if you have that link, so we can read about too.

Edit: Ohhh...that was here that place , sorry....

Microsoft releases 13 optional Windows patches | InfoWorld

    Therefore explains:
KB 3054476 -- According to Microsoft, this update for stream.sys driver-based applications in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 "helps Microsoft improve the experiences when users run stream.sys driver-based applications in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, such as the performance and the quality improvements." This is a new patch.

After reading that I remembered that the cache file for W.E.!. is in C:/Windows/performance/WinSat/
That W.E.I. does not complete the task - keeps running yet finished. I assume its the problem solver.
I installed this update to see if it solves that problem. Its too much work to dump the cache file.

Ah, ok..you're running W.E.I right now?

I had no probs with WEI lately, but might run it too. Keep us in touch.

"helps Microsoft improve the experiences when users run stream.sys driver-based applications in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, such as the performance and the quality improvements."
Might be also for improvements of the streaming quality of the adapters plugged...

    Edit: Ran WEI

Was you referring to the part of the log in Run Assessment mediaex input dshow, you're troubleshooting?

Might the update have restored something in registry keys for you. From what i read most of WEI troubleshooting is about power plan registry settings not set properly.

My log shows error at start because i've forced the High power plan to be the default setting.
