    Windows update error code 80073712 & 8007371B

So I have been attempting to run some windows updates on one our machines and can't seem to get past these error codes 80073712 and 8007371B. I ran the SURT and sfc however there was no change. I have attached the CBS log in 2 folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's the root of your problem (from the CheckSUR results)...

I've got all bar two of the problems sorted - but those two defeat me for the moment, which means that I'll have to craft a manual fix.
What language is Windows in? It appears to be English - but the logs don't tell me.

Here's the patch for the problems I have got, anyhow...

    I've uploaded a file - S12aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Save it to the default location
This should create a file S12aa.reg

Open an ELevated COmmand Prompt, and run the following command

    REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\System32\config\COMPONENTS

right-click on the S12aa.reg file, and select Merge
Accept the warnings, - you should then get a 'Success' message.
    Close all windows, and reboot.

The run CheckSUR again, and post the new CheckSUR.log file.

Noel, the language is English on this computer. Also thank you for the patch, I'll run it today and then run the CheckSUR again and post the log.

Noel, I followed your instructions and ran the CheckSUR again. Posted the whole log just in case something changed (CheckSUR log is in CBS2). Let me know what I need to do next. Thanks!

Here's the summary from the CheckSUR...
    Code:
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 931
     Found 84 errors
     Fixed 82 errors
CSI Catalog Missing Total count: 4
Fixed: CSI Catalog Missing. Total count: 4
CSI Missing Component Key Total count: 17
Fixed: CSI Missing Component Key. Total count: 17
CSI Missing Pinned Component Key Total count: 1
Fixed: CSI Missing Pinned Component Key. Total count: 1
CSI Missing Identity Total count: 20
Fixed: CSI Missing Identity. Total count: 18
CSI Missing C Mark Total count: 18
Fixed: CSI Missing C Mark. Total count: 18
CSI F Mark Missing Total count: 21
Fixed: CSI F Mark Missing. Total count: 21
CSI Catalog Thumbprint Invalid Total count: 4
Fixed: CSI Catalog Thumbprint Invalid. Total count: 4
... so we just have those two Missing Identity errors to deal with.
    The are
    Code:
    (f) CSI Missing Identity 0x00000000 appid usb.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.20934_cb8d72b488bbd561

I'll try and craft something today - but it may take a little longer.

I'm really reluctant to attempt to put a patch in without proper sourcing - which I can't find here - due to the potentially disastrous consequences.

So far I've been unable to find comparable entries anywhere.

The other option is to delete the entries (most times, this doesn't cause problems, but...)

I think maybe the best thing is if I grab a copy of your COMPONENTS hive, and work on that directly.

I need to have alook at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy theC:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop andthen compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site(preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.
