Please download SFCFix from here... http://www.sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFix.exe and save it to your desktop (we'll need it later anyhow, I think)

Here we go with the first attempt at a fix...
    I've uploaded a file - SFCFixScript.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.

Now drag the SFCFixScript.zip file over onto the SFCFix.exe file and drop it on there - this should force SFCFix to run the contained script file
It will create a new log file - please upload that. (SFCFix.log)

Ran the script (I think) and it created a .txt file, is this what you're looking for?

    Great!
That got those files fixed - I hope..

Please now reboot, and run an SFC /SCANNOW, and post the new CBS.log file - with any luck the SFC will come back 'no violations'!

I closed out everything I was running, restarted the computer, as it was shutting down it decided to run CHKDSK? I wasn't sure if it was suppose to run that or not, so I let it proceed and run. When it got down to around 21% Completed (3 of 3), it just finished? (I thought it might get to 100% before finishing is all) and the computer proceeded with the restart.

After I logged in (login took a little while longer too) I noticed the computer was running and loading slower, does that normally happen after a CHKDSK run? everything seems to be alright and as it was, just running slower.

Was it suppose to run CHKDSK on that last restart? and should I be concerned with the performance appearing to have taken a hit?

Logged in, let it sit and load everything up for a while and then ran SFC /SCANNOW - it said it did not find any integrity violations. That's good, right?

So far, so good - not sure why CHKDSK apparently bombed out, especially as the CBS.log file effectively only recorded the SFC scan.
You may want to run a full CHKDSK C: /F and see what it reports, since one of the files we replaced was the autochk file itself which controls the functionality!

The SFC scan is clear - so assuming the CHKDSK works OK, we may be in a fit state to try Windows Update again. Do a Check for Updates, and attempt to install ONLY the oldest found update - what happens?

For running that do I just open the start menu and type in CHKDSK C: /F and click enter? (I typed in CHKDSK and hit enter by mistake so it's running again without the F parameter, or so it says)

You'll need to open an Elevated Command Prompt, run the command there, and then hit Y <Enter> on request, and reboot.

Alright, for when I try updating again, there are multiple updates from the same time (oldest time) 8 of 9, should I still just pick one?

Yup post the error message, if it fails.
If it goes in OK, then try the rest.

Alright, well that went better than I expected. I tried one, it went through and installed, restarted, tried the rest and they all installed! Everything seems to be in working order, updated, and the computer appears to be back to normal loading/running performance speed as well!

Huge thanks to you, really appreciate the assistance with this issue! and as far as I can tell it should be good now, I'll monitor it the next few days and make sure things didn't go terrible wrong somewhere in the process of everything that went down.

Q: Are there any scans or routine checkups I should use on my computer? to keep it clean and attempt to keep corruption or errors from happening in the future?
