Get Windows 10 Icon Not Appearing in System Tray

Apologies if this has already been asked elsewhere. I don't have the Get Windows 10 icon in my System Tray. I've tried installing all Optional updates, but still no icon despite Windows Update stating I'm up to date.

I've got both KB2952664 and KBKB3035583, which seem to be prerequisites for Windows 7 SP1 users, but noticed the following updates aren't installed:

    KB2965788
    KB2984981
    KB2709981

All three give the error code 80070308. Do I need these updates for the Windows 10 icon to appear? If so, how do I install these updates? I have a Dell Studio 17 laptop running Windows 7 Premium 64-bit.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ToxicThing,

Thanks for the reply. I ran the fix-it tool and it fixed a couple of registry errors. Windows Update then downloaded and installed three optional updates:

    KB2952664
    KB3068708
    KB3050265

Windows Update's now saying I'm up to date again, but I'm wondering what happened to the three updates in the previous post that weren't installed? Still no sign of the Windows 10 icon, either. Is there anything else I should try?

Try re-logging (better just restart PC).

    Hi GokAy,

Tried this and Windows Update is still saying I'm up-to-date with everything.

Some people are having a problem getting the Win 10 icon.
See this post for a link to a MS thread about this:

    Hi DavidE, thanks for this.

Looking at Task Scheduler, both GWX tasks are listed but show the following:

Get Windows 10 Icon Not Appearing in System Tray-gwx1.jpg

Get Windows 10 Icon Not Appearing in System Tray-gwx2.jpg

Not sure if this indicates a problem or not.

You have the GWX tasks and it looks like they ran successfully.
That seems to be what the problem is for some people -the icon just doesn't show up.

    Check for Windows Updates again.
I found 3 new updates published today, i haven't installed them yet.

In addition to the prerequisite updates, I've found that the user needs to be "opted-in" to the MS Customer Experience Improvement Program.

Action Center >> Change Action Center settings >> Customer Experience Improvement Program settings >> click Yes I want to participate in the program >> Save changes.

Maybe try this: How to Enable ‘Get Windows 10′ App icon in the Windows 7/8.1 taskbar? | Techdows
But I am not sure is it working or not so I will not take any responsibilities :)
