    Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Win 7 for X64


    This "optional" entry appears each month during Win Update. It is several hundred MB in size so takes a while to download but there is no indication of what it does or why it is optional. Since individual updates also appear is this stuff really necessary ? Can it safely be ignored ? Thanx.

    It downloaded for me - twice - during a recent update session, then told me it was not needed and so didn't install.

    Thanx for the input. That explains why it is "optional" (vs. important) but not why it is there at all.

Im a little behind on this new Windows 7 monthly updating issue. I did not install the October Monthly Rollup KB3185330 so my latest update superceded this with providing the November Monthly Rollup KB3197868 in early November which as I understand the process, was correct. I did not yet...
