Hey there! Any more thoughts on this one or is it time for me to reset it back to factory settings?

Sorry about that - too many threads!

The only thing I can think of is that Windows is attempting to read the file and preventing access - try it again while in Safe Mode.

I wasn't able to run elevated command prompt as administrator in safe mode. What did I do wrong?

To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.

I figured out what I did wrong. I booted in safe mode with command prompt instead of simply safe mode. Sorry, stupid mistake. Live and learn.

When I ran the elevated command prompt I got invalid argument for KB2732500_SP1~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.cat

I'll try again tomorrow with fresh eyes.

I ran CHKDSK /F and the last command in the elevated command prompt (for realz!) normally and in safe mode and received the same error message. Access is denied.

You have to run the proper ICACLS command first - see my post #27

In Safe Mode I opened Elevated Command Prompt with networking so I could better read the code you posted. Tried several times, same error message. I also could not tell if there was a space in "AICACLS" so I tried both ways.

for some reason your copy/paste is ignoring the line-breaks in the code - resulting in the errors you see.
try this instead...
Code:
TAKEOWN /F C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\Package_for_KB2732500_SP1~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.cat /A
