Invalid Windows 7 after year's use

So I bought a used PC which had Windows 7 Ultimate about a year ago. It's a somewhat old desktop PC, 4GB RAM, average stuff, nothing extraordinary but not a dinosaur either. A couple days ago a message started popping up saying I needed to validate my Windows; quite odd since I'd been using the computer for a year already. Anyways, I downloaded the program suggested by the message, and it said Microsoft couldn't complete the validation process. I should also mention that I want to upgrade to Windows 10 but don't have any of the required updates, which also don't appear on W. Update.
I downloaded the MGADiag thing, if it's any use. If my Windows turns out to be invalid, what can I do? Will I still be able to download Win 10?
(Btw sorry if some of the code is in Spanish, English isn't my native language)

The installed Product Key is the Default Key - which can never be legally activated.
The motherboard is a retail one.
The activation was circumvented by installation of an Activation Exploit - which Windows eventually discovered after installation of KB971033.

The current installation is therefore counterfeit.
Is there a COA sticker for Windows on the machine's case anywhere?

The only sticker resembling a COA is on the back of the case, just a barcode and 13 numbers, don't think it's what I need.
But I have a new problem now: the PC won't start up after I shut it down because the screen was pitch black & unresponsive. I plugged it back and when I pressed the power button, a single light turned on un the front of the case, but no sound, no fans, nothing. I left it unplugged again in hopes that a cooling off is what the PC needs, but I don't really know what to do.
Guess the machine was already hanging by a thread...

It sounds like you're going to have to at least purchase a Windows license - or a new PC

Well if the computer doesn't turn back on I'll have to call someone and see if something got burned or anything like that, I guess. As for the Windows, I hasta actually heard somewhere that Microsoft would be giving out Win 10 even to users of invalid Windows, so I was aiming for that in case I had been ripped off when I bought the pc -is there any kind of hope?
UPDATE: plugged the power cord again, smoke started coming out the fan next to it. Just a little, but I guess it'll be some time until I have to worry about my Windows versión.

Nope - MS will only be giving free upgrades to genuine Windows licenses (or at least ones that pass a technical test).
They are NOT planning on upgrading counterfeits for free.

That's a bummer, but alright, thanks for the help! I'll mark this as solved for the time being since, well, I have to get my PC repaired first, so....
