windows Update says services not running

Windows update will not run, get services not running error

    1. System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

I got Installer encountered an error 0xc8000247

    2. SFC Scan

There were corrupt files log is included

Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated

Also, this happened after I replaced the internal HD with another using clone from acronis software.

Interestingly enough. I found the exact same problems that another person had... I also had a windows activation problem that I fixed already.

Here is the link to his issues and how it was fixed

Windows Update Won't work after imaging new C: drive

Just now got a windows stating "genuine and activation problem" again

Also found many others having the same problem after upgrading hd using acronis to clone
    just google search 0xc8000247 acronis

    found article at:
Windows Update Broken After Cloning Hard drive | GeezBlog

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/982018

To Paraphrase from the beezmo blog

To cut to the chase, SP1 and the hotfix weren’t correctly updating the storage driver, so it couldn’t report sector

size to Windows. The clue here was that fsutil (see that Microsoft link, above) was reporting “bytes per physical

    sector” as “<Not Supported>”.

I have confirmed I have the same issue after reading the article and running fsutil

I will have to open my Laptop up to see what HD I put in can't remember its been awhile ago and I left the problem alone and just did not use this laptop.

Unfortunately, this is my programming / development machine and I have a project that needs tweaking.

By the way... I am a systems programmer/technician/consultant with 40 years of experience. I was an XP expert.. just and old man now. I would rather have someone with more windows 7 trouble shooting experience help me with this problem. So please chime in if you have anything to say!

my current hd is HGST hgst 5k1000 1tb and it is one of the advanced format drives

Sounds to me like the IRST drivers...

This may simplybe caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

    Installing theIntel Rapid Storage Drivers

try downloadingand installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194

    (you want theiata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post an MGADiag report.

I need to see afull copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool

(download andsave to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012)

    Once saved, run the tool.

Click on theContinue button, which will produce the report.

To copy the report to your response, click onthe Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and thenpaste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
