    There's no SFC data, or errors in that log, either - please post the following file...

    That file appears to be corrupt!

    I think it would be best to try and get a new SFC - I suspect that the data we need from the old one is in the corrupted area

    Still nothing to see

    Please do another SFC /SCANNOW, and post the new CBS.log (compressed, please!)

    SFC is fine - and I couldn.t find any serious errors in all the background logs I looked at.

    I really am at a loss here to work out WTH is going wrong.
    All I can suggest is to uninstall all the latest 25 updates one by one until the errant behaviour ceases, then let me know which update it is.
