    Non-genuine copy of Windows 7 :(

I have a 3-DVD recovery program that I used to reset my PC to factory install. After a while of tweaking with optimizations and stuff, I noticed the disclaimer on my background saying my copy is not genuine

I did many things, like before when I reset my BIOS firmware. Other than that, while tweaking I:

-Fine tuned visual settings for better performance
    -Removed unnecessary startup programs
    -Disabled/stopped the following services:

    Block Level Backup Engine Service
    Bonjour Service (from iTunes)
    Certificate Propagation
Group Policy Client (if not on domain)
    HomeGroup Listener
    HomeGroup Provider
    Offline Files
    Portable Device Enumerator Service
    Security Center*
Software Protection (make sure you activate Windows first)
    SSDP Discovery
    Windows Defender*
Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service
    Windows Search
The "Software protection" make me most suspicious. I didn't have an issue like this before.

I also Removed the installation and re-install Xubuntu. Also before I even did all this, I wiped my drive to all 0s.

Looks like you disabled Software Protection too soon. Windows takes a while to check on activation.

This was an OEM restore disc I burned from the one shipped with my PC. I hope by that, I wasn't inadvertly using an illegal Windows 7.

I doubt it, but if it was MS wouldn't know about it. I would turn SP service back on, reboot and either wait a bit or try to activate manually.

Disabling Software Protection will ALWAYS result in a non-genuine system.

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Windows Genuine and Activation Issue Posting Instructions

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
