Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) fails to install
When running Windows Update, I always get error code 80073701. The help for this problem asks me to check if SP1 is already installed (it isn't) and suggests downloading it from the online download center (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=5842). This also fails, saying referenced assembly could not be found error code 0x800737701. I then downloaded and ran the System Update Readiness Tool (Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 - Windows Help), which successfully downloaded and ran Hotfix for Windows (KB947821). I tried to install the service pack from online again and got the same error code and comment about the assembly being missing. I then ran the Windows Update troubleshooter, which found no problem. I turned off the real time monitoring in Microsoft Security Essentials (my only antivirus or antispyware program) and tried to install the service pack from Windows Update again. I got the same error code (80073701) that I have been getting on every attempt for months. I did the sfc/scannow as you instruct and nothing was found, and I have attached the CBS zip file. Please help me install this service pack so that I will later be able to upgrade to Windows 10.
