... I'd normally try and give you a command-line instruction for that purpose, but it would fail since both filenames are actually illegal, so the commands would just error out.

Ok here's the new log - had to install the Take Ownership reg file before I could delete the two files.
Great! - well done.
Now try Windows Update again - do a Check for updates - what happens?
attempt to install ONLY the oldest update found - if it goes in OK, try the rest.
If it fails, post the new windowsupdate.log file
Haha I have 60 important updates waiting for me without checking, will take me a while to find the oldest one!
Will get back to you.
Important Windows updates installed and I got an error on one file:
KB3033929 Error Code 80246007
Log file attached
I did not install any optional updates.
Hi Noel I accidentally turned the PC off last night instead of putting it into Sleep mode and when it shut down it installed a few more updates including KB3033929 which it did successfully.
I have attached the current WindowsUpdate.log in case you want to look at it.
Edit - Since turning the PC on a few more updates have loaded including the one for Windows 10 readiness. I guess all is ok now but will not install until you confirm it is ok to proceed.
Thanks for your assistance so far.

Sounds good
The update log looks pretty good too.
Try installing the rest of the updates, and see what happens.
All installed with no problems, I guess we are fixed now?
Thanks for all your help Neil I really appreciate it and I can see why you are rated so highly.
I will mark the thread as solved and see when I'm brave enough to do the Win10 update.
