I have the same problem with Windows 7 in some virtual machines, but not with Windows 8.1.
The time increased from 43 to 103 seconds even after several restarts (stop-watch).
I don't dare to do the update with my physical machines.
By the way, where can I find a logout-button in sevenforums?
Disk Cleanup including System files (snapshots etc., all options marked) helps.
After two restarts the system is fast again.
A few months ago after WUP Tuesday, my system slowed again. I restored an image and installed one at time till I found the culprit. I hide that one from installing but some weeks later, it was gone from my hidden list. Makes me think that MS discovered a problem with it and removed it.
I hope it goes away after a few restarts.
After installing the critical update my computer became unusable. It froze immediately after startup, and I spent the day trying to resolve the problem without success. I was ready to wipe Windows and reinstall ( a two-three day process) when I remembered the update, removed it, and all is back to normal. Perhaps the update was released without thorough testing.
A restore point was created before the installation of the update, but system restore failed twice (even in safe mode) with a ntoskrnl.exe blue screen error. The machine was so unresponsive that I count myself lucky that I could get enough life out of it to remove the update!
The update has caused a wide range of issues, some of which are discussed on the Microsoft Community board.
