    Loooooong day today

    Hi Roy,

Sorry, life can drag me in other directions sometimes.

I put in a long day today but I have completed the Repair install and applied ~210 Microsoft updates.

I have a working system but still a lot to do. I'm quite sure I don't have NF ver 4.5.2 and the Registry confirms this. The encouraging part is that I didn't get the nag message when I brought it up that Logitech needed .NET Framework and I have actually successfully opened my Quicken app. BTW right before I started the process I thought I would take a backup of just the Windows files but the Netgear Genie software for my router also required .NET Framework.

Tomorrow I will begin again. Should I start with attempting the NF 3.5 install? I noticed I had several MS Security updates for .NET Framework 3.5.1 that seemed to work.

Regardless of how this goes from this point forward, I cannot thank you enough for getting me this far. I really do appreciate your patience as well as your experience and expertise, thanks.

    still wondering

    Hi Roy,

I need to ask a couple of questions of you.

In looking back at some of our prior communications I note that in the first attached note you asked me to do the following; see my first attachment. I have done this.

In the second attached note you indicated you had looked to see if 4 needed any of 3 and that you had found none. I interpreted this to mean that the installation of ver 4.? of .NET Framework didn't necessarily require any existence of .Net Framework ver 3.?. Hope I got that right.

In that same note you gave me a link that takes me to the installation for 3.5. Do you still want me to begin with 3.5? My first reason for asking is because you hadn't found any requirements for 4 to have any of 3.

My other reason for asking is before the repair install I was getting error messages when I attempted to run Quicken as well as other products like Netgear Genie because there was no .NET Framework V 4.0. I don't know if this indicates that there is something present that prevents that message since the repair install.

I really apologize for my apprehension on this issue but I would not welcome another day long repair install unless it was absolutely necessary.

One other question, When this whole issue started I was attempting to install TurboTax and received a message that it required .NET Framework 4.5.2 but it would be installed at that time if I authorized it, which I did and that failed???
