    Ok, we updated in your order now, and everything succeeded in getting installed, except 4 optional updates, failed multiple times. (some are also tagged as "update for Windows")

    (KB3035583, the update for the "Get Windows 10" thingy is not installed either and checking for updates gives nothing anymore, everything is up-to-date it says)

    Edit: Optional updates which cannot be installed:

    KB2574819: Update for Windows 7 for x64-systems
    KB2592687: Update for Windows 7 for x64-systems
    KB2670838: Platforum-update for Windows 7 x64 Edition
    KB2830477: Update for Windows 7 for x64-systems

    If you post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file, we can take a look and see what failed (if it hasn't rolled off the end of the log yet)

    Here it is.
    Any word on the fact that KB3035583 is not installed and not appearing in the check for updates? It could be that his device is not compatible for Windows 10, but I doubt it is.

    There are 4 updates that are failing to download:-
    KB2670838
    KB2574819
    KB2592687
    KB2830477

    This appears to be because the files are no longer available on the servers - or because WU is detecting them as having been downloaded when in fact they aren't.

    I would suggest the easiest way to deal with this would be a reset of WIndows Update. -see here...

    got straight to Option 3 - you'll lose the History, but that's not important.
    Once complete, do a check for updates, and attempt to install any that get found - then post the new windowsupdate.log file

    Resetted, checked for updates, found the 4 updates again, installation failed again, this time with error code 80073701.

    OK - let's take KB2592687
    download the offline installer from here - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=35387
    and attempt to install it - what happens?

    Installation is completed, but it still appears in the list of 4 optional updates. (even after scanning for updates again to "refresh" the list)

    OK - run SFC and CheckSUR again and post the new CBS folder, and the windowsupdate.log file

I've followed all of the online Microsoft recommendations and nothing seems to have fixed the issue - the hot fx tools seemed to fix something but once ran again they fixed something different? Been having the problems since getting the computer in October 2012. No issues with SURT installed...
