    Sorry, I am not really following here.
    So that one update got installed, good, but as I said, when checking for updates, it is still appearing in the list of updates to be downloaded and installed, together with 3 others.
    You are telling me that apart from the installed update and those 3 others, there are 2 more? Strange that the update-checking cannot find them.

    Yes, we did, after checking we still get those 4 updates, including the one we manually installed. (and not those 5 other updates Noel talked about)

    You appear to be attempting to use a WSUS server - and the server doesn't appear to be responding properly to requests.
    Either make sure that you're connecting to the correct WSUS server, or reset Windows Update to use the normal Windows Update servers.

    That is very odd indeed. As I can see, it connects to a update server from the store he bought his desktop: "Alternate"

    I do not really know how we can change this to the "normal" WSUS server from Microsoft. We have already resetted Windows Update numerous times before, to no avail.

    And as I already said: The reason we got the error message is because by default, Windows Update is connected to something like an "administrative server". When pressing the blue text "check for updates through Microsoft update service" or something like that, the updates did get found, but that still isn't the real Microsoft Update Server, but the one from Alternate?
    Guess we have to fuzz with internet options somewhere?

    Try this - it may work...

    Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands

    REG DELETE HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU
    REG DELETE HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

    If you don't get an error message, reboot and try Windows Update again.

    I'm afraid that didn't work. Registry keys are deleted (and still are), but nothing changed, still found 4 updates that fail to install (still connected to the old WSUS server?)

    There you go.
    I am wondering how the store from which the computer was delivered can still pull the strings on the Update service like that. There has to be a way to make that part 'independent', right? That way the store can for example prevent the computer from getting the KB3035583 ("Get Windows 10") update, which might be the case here.

    As far as I can see, the WSUS server is now properly disabled, and Windows is again getting its updates direct from MS.

I've followed all of the online Microsoft recommendations and nothing seems to have fixed the issue - the hot fx tools seemed to fix something but once ran again they fixed something different? Been having the problems since getting the computer in October 2012. No issues with SURT installed...
