SP1 Update repeatedly failing, error 0x80073712

Good afternoon! From what I've seen in a Whole Lot of Googling, this forum seems to have the most targeted, successful support for the kind of issue I'm seeing.

I've been running Win7 Home Premium for a few years, and every single Windows Update has run successfully (with a snag now and then) except SP1, which returns error 0x80073712 every time.

I've disabled SpyBot S&D and AVG Free, but MS Security Essentials is still running.

I ran SURT (Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64), which completed.
(And I discovered I've been attempting to resolve the issue with SURT since September 2012, v22!)

    Ran SFC scan as Admin:

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

    Collected CBS.zip from C:\Windows\Logs

    Attempted update again.

New error code: 80070002. Followed WinHelp to stop Windows Update service, deleted temporary update files, restarted update service, checked again for updates.

Attempted update again. Found 1 critical (SP1) and 2 optional. Didn't note what they were.

Cancelled install during Win Live Essentials 2011 update. Restarted SP1-only update.

    80073712 returned.

    Re-collected CBS.zip from C:\Windows\Logs

(I tried to attach CBS.zip, but at ~30MB, it's well over the 8MB limit. Any particular logs you could use instead?

    Thanks!

Ran Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64 again, attempted SP1 update again, failed with 80073712 again.

Ran WindowsUpdateDiagnostic again, which reported "Windows Update error 0x80073712(2015-07-21-T-12_43_39A) Not Fixed"

I attached CBS.txt.zip (1 big txt file), CheckSUR.zip (2 files), and FilterList.log. CBSpersist.zip (5 files) was too big, but I could zip individually if needed.

You have some interesting errors there -

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

    That looks OK.
Please open an Elevated Command Prompt and run the following commands:

    TAKEOWN /F C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\PA0BDB*.* /A
    DEL C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\PA0BDB*.* /Q

Then run another CheckSUR scan, and post the new CheckSUR.log file.

    No dice:

OK - we're partway there at least.

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

    ICACLS C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\PA0BDB~1.MUM
    ICACLS C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\PA0BDB~1.MUM /grant Administrators:(F)
    DEL C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\PA0BDB~1.MUM

post the results, and then run another CheckSUR scan and post the new log.

Good - all we're left with now is the conventional error...
    Code:
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 1391
     Found 1 errors
CSI Manifest Missing Total count: 1

    Unavailable repair files:

I'll post a fix protocol later.
