Win7Ux64 Validation Failure after Cloning HDD

    Good day all,

My apologies for the sudden intrusion on the forums. I have noticed previous users with the same issues finding their solutions here. And I have attempted several of the solutions (Re-cloning, phone activation, Elevated CMD), to no avail.

To start, my computer has an OEM Win 7 Ultimate x64 installed. I no longer have the original casing, or discs that came with it, due to several upgrades over the last couple of years.

As of now, the 500gb HDD, motherboard, and PSU are the only original components.

It always ran fine, and Win 7 was activated and validated on the old HDD. I performed a HDD cloning using Macrium Reflect, in an attempt to upgrade my HDD to a new 2TB HDD.

Upon completion, windows boots fine, no issues detected other than the lack of validation. Attempts to validate Win 7 have failed thus far.

Below is the result from the MGADiag tool. Any idea on how I might get Win 7 to validate, if at all?

The installation is non-genuine because the installed Product Key is an OEM_SLP one from an ASUS machine - while your motherboard appears to be a retail BIOSTAR one.
OEM_SLP Keys are ONLY valid when used in conjunction with the motherboard manufacturer's Recovery media

Ergh. That's... Annoying. Thanks for letting me know. Guess I'll have to go source for a genuine install.

Edit: Didn't MS use to sell Win 7U online? When I click 'purchase a new key' I get sent to Win 10 instead. Has Win 7 U been removed from the store?

MS stopped selling Windows 7 the day that Windows 8 was released
You can try getting a 'Get Genuine Kit' - which is a Retail license so you get MS support for 90days, BUT is restricted to use on the affected machine, so it's effectively an OEM license. However, it's more expensive than the normal legit OEM licenses available.
Retail licenses for Windows 7 are no longer available.

I'll be a happy bugger long as I can keep using Win 7U on this machine till it crumbles into the ether.

Could you direct me via a link perhaps? I'm getting mixed messages from Windows (Online validation says it's genuine, activation fails, thus no GGK prompt. =.=) and online searching has been pretty futile.

Validation will always pass while the system is in the grace period - you could just wait until it goes out of grace, and then try validating.(25 days to go)
