Windows not genuine messages after clone from HDD to SSD

OK should I copy paste the contents (a lot of lines) or attach the update log file to a post?

Did I say I have been deleting random files? I try not to do that! If you were referring to my note about making space for the updates, I just moved some personal data files into a different partition (D:\) to liberate space in the main partition for the update files.

As it happens, 61 out of 65 of the updates have now run this morning since I posted about the update problem. And when I downloaded the SURT exe, it failed with a Disk Full error, so I am going to have to move some MORE files. I can't understand that as last night the C:\ drive showed 5 GB free space and now it shows 507 Mb. That is crazy! How can 61 updates take up nearly 5 GB ? !!

I sincerely hope that when it comes to replacing Win7 with Win10, the 250 GB SSD will cope with it!

Before I send the update error log file, I might as well see what happens when I reboot as requested by Windows Update. But first, I better see if I can move more data into D:\

I moved another 12 GB of data from C to D drives and rerun Updates. It downloaded and updated a further 55 updates!

So it looks like all is ok with that aspect and the exercise with SURT unnecessary. Please confirm.

I was planning to replace Windows 7 with Windows 10. I imagine that Windows 7, with all the updates that have been added over the years, is a very large OS now. Can I hope that replacing it with Windows 10 will actually free up disk space or am I going to have problems with the transition?

OK, many thanks with your help on this NoelDP. I think I can mark this off as solved now. Just eliminating the Windows not genuine is a real success for me. There was one question that I asked that you didn't respond to: about going back to Crucial on the fact that I don't think I was advised that the drivers would need updating after installing the SSD. Did you think that a good idea?

OK, in response to Layback Bear, I attach the screen capture file. BTW, the D: partition says Healthy. It got overlaid by the description of C:.

I think I need either to reduce the size of D: partition and increase C: or understand better how to get my data into D: with effective links from / to Users set up in C: The problem for me is most of my original data for User \ My Documents was built in C: and only My Pictures \ Photos in D: For the clone to a much smaller SSD, I had to remove all the Photos and dump them directly onto my 2 TB external drive, which left the D: partition empty.

As a quick fix today, I cut and pasted some major files/folders from C: to D: to free up space for the updates. After the updates completed, there was then 8 GB of redundant update files to delete on disk cleanup.

Any feedback on this would be good as it would be nice to have the partitions organised effectively before installing Windows 10. And I want to have a good system image of what I have now before starting on Windows 10 install.

The last time I tried to create a Windows backup and System Image on one our other family computers, it all went well until the last moment when I got a message saying "One of the backup files could not be created . . . because of an I/O device error."

But Windows doesn't seem to tell you any more then that so it's hard to know how to fix it. Sadly, I feel like there's another thread waiting to get created.
